I have had something a little bit strange happen to me over the last few weeks…in a good way you understand.
Let me try to explain.
You see as well as my online business I also have an offline ‘real world’ training business.
My offline business was particularly busy throughout spring, and therefore the amount of time I could spend on my online business was limited.
I still did stuff, like communicate with my list, but some of my ‘goals’ that I had set myself for the period had to be put on the back burner for a period.
This resulted in a slowdown of the income I made from the business.
Pretty obvious connection you might say, and you would probably be right.
OK let’s move the story forward.
Once we summer months arrive, anyone who has been involved with training in the offline world will know that thoughts go to holidays.
This has the effect that people want to be on the beach and not in a training room!
Hence as a trainer you suddenly get a lot of free time on your hands.
Of course if that is all I did, this would be somewhat of a concern.
Instead I can take it as a very positive thing as I can commit more time to:
a. the family (as I’m not travelling around the country)
b. my online side of the business
It also means that as my office is just behind our kitchen, my commute to work takes all of 30 seconds with coffee in hand.
I have thought of not bothering to get dressed to go to work, but this tends to freak out the postman when I forget and answer the door to him.
But getting back to this extra time on my online business.
For the past few weeks I’ve been able to renew my focus on my online efforts.
And do you know what, the results (mainly measured in income created) has suddenly gone up.
I know, I know, it’s obvious right, the amount of work you put in is equal to the rewards you get out…
…well yes and no.
Of course I understand there is going to be a direct link here.
BUT…
It is the indirect link that has fascinated me.
You see the results I’ve achieved over the last few weeks have not all been just down to the work I’ve put in over that period.
I’ve suddenly had affiliate sales for things I haven’t promoted in ages, I have sold products I’d almost forgotten about…
…I have even had people sign up for lists that I didn’t even realise I still had a squeeze page for.
In fact I have had a load of results for which I can’t think of a direct cause.
It may be a load of ‘hippy crap’, but it does seem to me that there may just be something in the idea that the ‘frequency of your thoughts’ are picked up by the universe which in turns brings to you what you are thinking about.
I take my focus off my online activities, my success declines, I refocus and get the obvious directly related awards, but it does seem to bring in residual rewards as well.
Of course it maybe just luck or there may be some very other valid reasons.
Either way frankly I don’t really care, I’m happy to receive those rewards whichever way they come 🙂
I’d be very interested to hear if you have had experiences of ‘good luck’ when focusing on your goal.
I think it was Goethe, the famous German philosopher, who first noted this phenomenon. He said that when you finally commit to an action, task or project, then all the forces of the Universe conspire to help you.
It reminds me of that quote, attributed to many, “The harder I work, the luckier I get”!
Regarding the famous Goethe quote Ian, I once did a bit of searching, in German, and could not actually find it anywhere directly attributed to him.
Apparently that is not certain, but it’s a useful concept regardless of who said it first!
