Welcome to the start of this game-changing training.
CONGRATULATIONS here is the start of the training program that will ensure you get the MAXIMUM results from the emails you send to your subscribers.
Before I get I get into the HOW and the WHAT, (and a ‘Done-For-You’ shortcut), I want to start with the WHY.
WHY you should be sending regular, engaging emails and how, if done correctly, it will multiply the income you create from your efforts.
You’ll also find out about the power of relationship and rapport…
…and more importantly how to build both!
WHY BOTHER
1. Building a Relationship
It is well known within marketing circles that people buy from PEOPLE and especially people they like. Therefore it is important as a marketer you develop a relationship and rapport with the people on your list.
When people initially sign up to your offer, they don’t know you from Adam, you are a stranger, someone who is potentially just out to fleece them.
However if you communicate successfully we can soon become a ‘real’ person, a person who can be trusted and even liked…
…a person whose views are worth listening to.
Just consider this for a moment; if a stranger came up to you and asked to be taken halfway across the country to visit a relative, you are probably going to tell them (in no uncertain terms) to do one!
Now let’s repeat that scenario, and replace the stranger with a close friend, someone you like.
Now things are different and you will most likely move heaven and earth to try to help them out.
If we translate this to the business world, the closer the link between you and your followers, the more likely they are to follow your advice and invest in the products and services you suggest.
As I say people buy from people…people they like/trust.
Therefore a primary benefit to you and your subscriber is to use your mails to introduce yourself as a real person with a real desire to help them (I will dig deeper HOW you can actually build this rapport a little later).
2. A Way to Help Your List
If you are doing it right, the mails you send to your subscribers will help them.
This can be with valuable content they can use to add to their knowledge or understanding of the topic/niche they are interested in, or it can be a suggestion of a product or service that you believe will help or benefit them…
…or even better, a combination of the two.
Get this right and subscribers will start actively looking out for your mails and even be disappointed if they don’t receive anything.
I know I have certain marketers I feel this way about, and maybe you do to.
3. Where the Income Comes From
Let’s not beat about the bush, we are marketers and therefore we are looking to make an income.
We shouldn’t hide this fact or feel uncomfortable about it. As long as we are providing a good service it is fair to expect payment in return.
When it comes to email marketing, the simple equation is; the more emails you send (within reason!), the more income you are going to make.
I cannot emphasise this more strongly.
If you seldom send emails to your subscribers, you are simply not going to create the income you dream of…period!
I am, of course, not talking about spamming people!
Send emails that build the rapport, with information that will help, educate and/or entertain with links to products or services that will help and you WILL make money
4. Improved Retention
Although I’ve titled this IMPROVED retention, the first thing you will find by sending emails in ‘your voice’ is that some people don’t like you and will unsubscribe and go.
Don’t worry though, this is good.
This is nothing to be worried about, as you can’t, and don’t want to be liked by everyone.
Those who do not relate to you are very unlikely to buy from you but they will be costing you.
Most autoresponders charge based on the number of subscribers you have.
Therefore the sooner you can get rid of people who just don’t relate to you and your style the better.
The unsubscribers aside, those who do remain on your list will become familiar with you and your regular mails.
If the content of your regular emails is good you will build up a rapport with your subscribers.
They will expect to see your regular emails and therefore will look out for them, improving your open rates.
Conversely, if you have long gaps between mails, people will forget about you and are FAR more likely to unsubscribe from your list when you do eventually send a mail.
It really is a case of out-of-sight, out-of-mind when it comes to sending emails to your list and so it is very important to send not only good quality mails but also regular emails.
So there you have the reasons why regular, engaging, well-written emails are essential to your success online.
From building and keeping relationships, through helping your list with their requirements and ultimately creating your income…
…regular well-written emails are a must in your business.
Rapport; What is it and How to Get it
Next I want to concentrate on what I believe is THE most important thing to get right.
Get this right and you can almost (I stress ALMOST) forget about what I have to say in the remainder of the training.
To be clear when we talk about ‘rapport’, we are talking about the link or connection between individuals.
Rapport tends to happen most readily between like-minded individuals; people who tend to think in a similar way.
For obvious reasons you will find that the greatest rapport tends to be between friends.
You can imagine rapport as being like a bridge linking individuals; the stronger the rapport, the wider the bridge.
So you will find the more rapport you have with someone, the more they will listen to you and act on your advice and recommendations.
Put another way, you will more readily listen to a close friend than you would a mere acquaintance or stranger.
Therefore, you can see from a marketing point of view, having a rapport with your subscribers is going to be very advantageous if you want them to check out the products or services you suggest to them.
Having rapport also means some of the other tools and techniques I discuss later in the course are made less important. Just the mere fact that it is you writing to them can sometimes be enough if you have built up enough rapport.
How to Create Rapport
Luckily rapport is something that happens naturally and unconsciously when we have contact with another person that we relate to, but we can also consciously work at building up rapport.
The key to creating rapport from scratch is the fact that ‘people like people they are like’.
I’ll repeat that because it is so important; ‘people like people they are like’.
So it is hugely important that you come across as a real person in your mails.
Include something of ‘you’ in all the emails you send.
Don’t be tempted to just throw hypey, over the top claims in the face of your new subscriber.
In practice this means don’t be frightened to mention your hobbies, your likes, your dislikes, who you are and what you are about.
You want to come across as a very real person with very real opinions and a life outside of your online business.
One technique I have found that works extremely well in allowing your subscribers to see you as a real person and therefore create rapport is to introduce yourself with a potted history.
However rather than do this in the email itself, I would do it as a link to my ‘About Me’ page on my blog.
(If you don’t have a blog I strongly suggest you create yourself one).
This gives them a full introduction of who I am and why they can trust me.
When you do something like this, you become not just another faceless marketer after their buck.
Use Your Own Voice
This is something that can make or break my relationship with a marketer when I subscribe to their list.
If someone is trying to be something they are obviously not, it causes alarm bells to start ringing.
If you are a 20 year old male from the US, write like a 20 year old male from the US.
By the same token, if you are a 50-year-old female from the UK, make sure you speak like a 50-year-old female from the UK.
Don’t be tempted to get out the IM cliché dictionary and start using stereotypical marketing jargon. People will quickly see through this and sense they are being tricked.
This will blow any chance of creating rapport right out of the window.
Don’t be frightened to include the jargon, slang and expressions that you would normally use (again this should be within reason as you still want to be able to be understood).
This will again make you come across as real and not just another marketing clone.
This does mean that you should NEVER send the swipe mails provided with affiliate products directly to your list.
At the very least you should be adding an ‘essence’ of you, by personalising the contents. Maybe adding your own introduction or just generally playing with the wording to make it sound more like you.
One final thing I should add, is when I say be real to yourself and use your own ‘language’, I mean this figuratively and not literally.
Although French is apparently the language of love, it is still the case, rightly or wrongly, that the language of IM is still English.
Therefore whatever your native tongue you should be communicating with your list in English if you want maximum results.
Do the things mentioned above and you will have the best chance possible to:
a. quickly get rid of those subscribers who don’t relate to you (therefore saving on potential autoresponder fees)
b. create a rapport with your subscribers that means they are willing to listen to you and perhaps forgive some of the typos or issues with grammar
Of course, ultimately this also means that you will maximise the number of subscribers who follow your advice and invest in products or services you recommend. Which of course means you will be making the maximum commissions from the emails you send.
So in summary:
– Be upfront about who you are
– Steer clear of clichés
– Use your own voice
– Always edit affiliate swipe mails

With my AR Mail Genie Membership, you don’t even have to pay this much for a whole month’s worth of emails!
If you consider how much time it takes you to write an email (most people I talk to would say 30 to 60 minutes)…

So even using the VERY conservative 30 minutes per email, this membership could save you around 10 hours a month.
Imagine what you could be doing with an extra 10 hours to work on building your list?!
