Today I wanted to write about something that almost cost me my business before it even started.
I remember when I was starting, I’d read up loads, I’d done the research and finally decided it was time to take some action.
I put everything in place just as I’d been told.
I stuck exactly to the instructions and pushed the ‘Go’ button to go live.
This was it.
I had visions of the impact that I was going to make on the world of internet marketing.
The fame, the fortune, the girls…it was all headed my way.
Yeh right!
What actually happened was next to diddly squat!
I don’t think I would have felt more p*ssed off if my dog had crapped in my favourite slippers.
(Which considering I didn’t even have a dog would have been VERY unlucky)
Before I continue to the moral of the tale, do you recognise this situation?
Has it happened to you?
It really is a bummer isn’t it.
You have all the dreams sold to you by other marketers, saying that anyone can do it…
…and then your efforts bomb.
From a personal point of view, I was very close to quitting.
The way I looked at it, the story I’d been told about internet marketing riches was a fairy tale.
A fairy tale told by people preying on those of us who wanted to make something of their life.
I reasoned that the only people making money were those selling the fantasy.
Of course once I’d had time to consider, there were a number of factors that I reconsidered.
The main thought was that the strategy I had been shown was proven.
People HAD used it and used it successfully.
The fact was that the strategy worked.
It was my implementation of the strategy that didn’t.
I now know this for sure because I have subsequently used the exact same strategy with great success.
Sometimes it can be because you never followed the strategy exactly thinking you could do it better.
Sometimes it might be what you are offering isn’t quite right at that time…
…or it can even come down to a little bit of (bad) luck.
Now having this sort of failure down the line when you have had some success is not a problem.
You have success banked and therefore you know it can be done.
So although it’s no doubt a disappointment, it is not a dream killer.
However if your first efforts result in failure, it is a lot more difficult to see the bigger picture.
It is a lot more difficult to objectively look for why your efforts failed…
…yet this is exactly what you should do.
There are enough ordinary people who have succeeded online to prove it can be done.
You just need to find the proven strategy that you can relate to and then put in the effort.
Ultimately at some point you WILL have a failure.
The key is to not to take it to heart.
You know it can work, so it is a matter of working out what made it fail and tweaking things and going again.
And of course learning from the experience.
Easier said than done when you are in the middle of a failure I know, but just keep remembering, if others have done it, then so can you.
If you are going through a bit of a slump at the moment, I hope this helps.
As ever I’d love to hear your thoughts.
===========================================
If you are wondering about the type of proven strategy I was talking about, I have something that is currently available that sums up what I mean.
Firstly it is practice and not just theory.
In other words the author has used AND benefited from the strategy he is sharing.
Therefore you have some comfort of knowing that this has been done before and DOES bring home the bacon (or Quorn if you are a veggie).
In addition, like the best guides, this is written in a very straight forward down to earth style.
In other words very easy to follow…
…even if you are just starting out.

I’ve said before I like promises that seem achievable rather than the ‘millions overnight’ type promises.
And this guide very much matches that criteria.
The upshot of this is that if you are make thousands a week already online, it might not be for you.
HOWEVER, even if you are in this position, due to its step by step nature, it seems to me that it would be ripe for outsourcing (I will be investigating this further).
So as a recap…
…we are looking at a strategy that has brought success to others
…a strategy that has been written up in an easy to follow step by step format
…a strategy that needs no special skills to put in place.
For me, that is a strategy that is worth checking out.
